Product Description
A good probiotic is a must-have for every home’s medicine cabinet (and having a shelf-stable version means you CAN keep it in the medicine cabinet). It’s a core essential for supporting a healthy terrain, and practicing preventative medicine. Can Prev’s Pro-Biotik 15B is a shelf-stable multi strain probiotic that provides the following benefits:
- Supports a balanced gut microbiome, particularly after factors such as dietary disruption, diarrhea, stress or antibiotic use
- Supports digestion and intestinal function by supplying five bacterial strains normally associated with the human intestinal tract
- Provides a broader coverage across the digestive tract: this formula combines 3 Lactobacillus strains for small intestine support with 2 Bifidobacterium strains for large intestine support
- Helps replenish beneficial bacteria with a moderate daily dose of 15 billion colony-forming units rather than a high-strength therapeutic-style dose, which could initially cause more gas and abdominal discomfort. You’re better off with a slow, gradual influx and a gentle change of population than the sudden invasion of a massive army!
- Supports the integrity of the intestinal barrier and helps maintain colonization resistance against certain undesirable microorganisms
- Many lactobacilli produce lactic acid, while bifidobacteria produce both lactic and acetic acids. These acids can lower intestinal pH and help make conditions less favourable for some potentially harmful organisms
- For people with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, probiotics have shown a positive effect on reducing liver enzymes, lipid profiles, and inflammatory cytokines (Pan et al, 2024)
Microplastics: a new health risk that probiotics help address
Microplastics are tiny plastic particles measuring less than 5 millimeters in diameter. They come from various sources, including the breakdown of larger plastic debris and synthetic fibers shed from clothing, cosmetics, and industrial processes. Microplastics are commonly found in oceans, rivers, soil, (and therefore our food supply) and even the air. This is a new type of environmental pollutant, and awareness is increasing on their deleterious health effects, especially in regards to their effects on the reproductive system.
Research (see this article) has shown that exposure to polystyrene microplastics (PS-MPs) can cause significant changes to intestinal microbial structure: the abundance of lactobacillus (friendly gut bacteria) decreases, while the abundance of Prevotella (an anaerobic, opportunistic bacteria that’s potentially pathogenic if out of balance) increases. Additionally, exposure to PS-MPs can result in significant spermatogenic dysfunction and testicular inflammation.
However, probiotics supplementation helps inhibit the activation of IL-17A (interleukin 17A: a pro-inflammatory cytokine) signaling driven by gut microbes, thereby alleviating the inflammatory response, restoring favorable gut bacteria balance, and improving sperm quality decline caused by PS-MPs.
Medicinal ingredients: Each capsule contains a minimum of 15 billion CFU (colony-forming units) of viable live probiotics:

- Bifidobacterium bifidum HA-132 – 2.25 billion CFU
- Bifidobacterium longum HA-135 – 2.25 billion CFU
- Lactobacilus acidophilus HA-122 – 1.5 billion CFU
Non-medicinal ingredients: Ascorbic acid, fatty acids, hypromellose, potato starch, silicon dioxide.
