Natren Caninedophilus Probiotic for Dogs

The gel carrier that enrobes the probiotics was developed by a German veterinarian and consists of vegetable oil, Vitamin E, Vitamin A and selenium – no preservatives and nothing artificial! The gel (not the probiotics – those need to be refrigerated) is designed to be stable in temperatures up to 140 degrees Fahrenheit to protect the probiotic bacteria from the environment and from gastric juices.

This gel probiotic contains a special microorganism called Enterococcus faecium. E. faecium is monitored by a German government agency for safety, and is exclusively available in the Natren line of animal probiotics.

Natren has added their own unique Lactobacillus acidophilus NAS strain to this gel to give your dog a unique combination of the gel matrix and two beneficial bacteria. Natren uses only live bacteria super strains, chosen for their effectiveness in aiding digestion.

Most dogs love the probiotic gel and some will even lick it off your fingers.

Microplastics: a new health risk that probiotics help address
Microplastics are tiny plastic particles measuring less than 5 millimeters in diameter. They come from various sources, including the breakdown of larger plastic debris and synthetic fibers shed from clothing, cosmetics, and industrial processes. Microplastics are commonly found in oceans, rivers, soil, (and therefore our food supply) and even the air. This is a new type of environmental pollutant, and awareness is increasing on their deleterious health effects, especially in regards to their effects on the reproductive system.

Research (see this article) has shown that exposure to polystyrene microplastics (PS-MPs) can cause significant changes to intestinal microbial structure: the abundance of lactobacillus (friendly gut bacteria) decreases, while the abundance of Prevotella (an anaerobic, opportunistic bacteria that’s potentially pathogenic if out of balance) increases. Additionally, exposure to PS-MPs can result in significant spermatogenic dysfunction and testicular inflammation.
However, probiotics supplementation helps inhibit the activation of IL-17A (interleukin 17A: a pro-inflammatory cytokine) signaling driven by gut microbes, thereby alleviating the inflammatory response, restoring favorable gut bacteria balance, and improving sperm quality decline caused by PS-MPs.

DISPENSING INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Remove the cap from the tip of the syringe.
2. Completely fold over one tab so the plunger can slide into the applicator. Each tab equals a 2 gram serving (6 billion cfu).
3. Insert the tip of the syringe into the side of the mouth and firmly depress the plunger until it moves forward the number of tabs you have folded.
4. Alternatively, apply on top of food or mix into it.
5. After use, replace the cap onto the tip of the syringe and store in a COOL, dry place (refrigeration is good).

Note: If your dog tends to try to spit out medications or supplements, then do not give any food or water for 15 – 20 minutes after application.

Ingredients: Vegetable oil, viable dried Enterococcus faecium NCIMB 10415 fermentation product, Vitamin E supplement, viable dried Lactobacillus acidophilus NAS fermentation product, Vitamin A supplement, and Selenium. Total 6 billion cfu per serving (3 billion cfu per gram).

Minimum guaranteed analysis per 2 g dose:

• Vitamin A – 4,000 IU
• Selenium – 0.02 mg
• Vitamin E – 40 IU
• Mixed E. faecium NCIMB 10415 and L. acidophilus NAS total 6 billion cfu

Recommendations: 2 grams once (dogs up to 30 lbs) or twice (dogs over 30 lbs) weekly (maintenance) or 2 grams once (dogs up to 30 lbs) or twice (dogs over 30 lbs) daily (enhanced care; just for one week)
